I Have The Blues

Bombay Bicycle Club are an Indie group who promote fun and a good life. The way they have put their name and album name on the cover right in the middle of the image is good. The way it is in blue contrasts against the black and white image injecting a splash of fun but still keeps it calm and away from the pop culture.
The image is made to look old and the people looking up at the man from below look happy and excited making us think that the music is going to be exciting and different and a fresh new sound to listen too.
The man that has supposedly jumping in the air seems to have lots of energy meaning the music they produce is lively and bouncy. His hand is resting on the 'y' of their name showing that they are approachable and friendly and up for fun. It is a very clever and original idea which I think would stand out in the market today.

Beat Again

JLS are a young band who got fame through a reality TV show competition 'X-Factor' but didn't win so had to make it on their own.
They quickly got signed as many people had seen and heard their talent and they kept their signature look. They all have their own colour which are shown on this album cover. On it you can see all of the boy band members and they are facing towards the middle so there is no focus on a particular person as none of them have more significance and this comes across in this cover. Behind each person is there particular colour.
Their album name 'Beat Again' is underneath their band name and can be seen clearly against the dark background.
Although a simple cover it is similar to their others and works well for them. It fits the genre of pop too, as the colours make it seem a lot happier and brighter and their clothing looks like popular culture. Also the star on their logo makes it obvious it is pop. This showed me that simple covers work very well.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga took the music world by storm not only with her catchy songs but she also uses her image as a major factor to attract fans and keep them interested. Lady Gaga’s song ‘Poker face’ which this album is named is an upbeat dance tune and reached the charts and remained there for some time. This is not a one of event for Gaga as she has had many chart stopping hits since she became famous and is still a large competitor in the music market now. As you can see by the cover this album is a remixed version and her record label were able to do this as the original done so well, this opened her songs up to be played in more clubs too which has now widened her target market.
This cover focuses on her image and is supposed to be slightly sexual as it pictures her climbing out of a pool dripping in water. It is quite clear that the music is going to be in the Pop genre from her outfit and the sparkling accessories she wears. The way she covers her face goes along with her style that the public are already aware of and keeps a sense of mystery in the music. As she is seen here to have a slim figure and perfect skin this follows the genre of Pop as well, however she has added her own edge with spiky things on her shoulders. The picture would have been taken on a shoot at a swimming pool then edited after making her look even more pristine.  Although Gaga is famous worldwide she still needed to be on the front cover to represent her as strong powerful women which is what we can make from this cover. This cover would appeal both to males and females alike as she isn’t overly intimidating with her beauty that women would feel uncomfortable and she is very aware of her fashion which interests many women; men would be drawn in my her predator like stance and her tight fitting clothing. So Lady Gaga has once again with this cover managed to appeal to both genders in order to sell many more of her records.
