18th January 2011
Tomorrow we have our evaluation presentation in our lesson. Today is the final day to add finishing touches to our evaluation and create a display for the class that is professional looking and not boring. So far we have almost finished question 1, I completed question 2 and we also done question 3 and 4. This means we have to work together to edit our voices on to the appropriate parts of the video we created for explaining the use of our ancillary texts. We recorded our voices earlier today to add it to the video, we come to one obstacle when our video didn't capture onto the programme but was soon overcome it just took a little longer than expected. We spent a lot of the day adding extra necessary parts to our evaluation. I also found that there is another task that could help us get a good grade so will be doing this as a last thing. Overall our task hasn't gone too badly despite the setbacks we have hit; we have worked much better as a team towards the end which has made our work much more successful.

Log Book 6th January
Today we held a group meeting, we decided the Digi pack NEEDED to be pieced together to meet the deadline. We also ran through the music video and decided we needed to tweak a few things such as
- The beginning of the video the lip sync from Joffy was too lengthy and viewers would lose interest- perhaps add in a few flashbacks
- There were very jolty bits of filming throughout the fishing trip which needed to be fixed
- We needed another part to the ending, we believed Joffy crawling on the floor and a bottle rolling from him would leave a great cliffhanger for the viewers.
These changes need to be put through by the 9th to have a finished product
Log Book 9th January
We have completed our music video! All parts tweaked and all of us happy with the finished product we uploaded it onto youtube and promoted it within our website to gain views.
We are very happy with the finished product but will begin evaluating it soon
Log Book 11th January
We have began filming audience feedback which is part of our evaluation, bringing people in at free periods to view our music video. We also printed out a lot of copies of our questionnaires to give to people to gain real constructive criticism and their true thoughts on our finished piece

December
Log Book 1st December
We added in our shots from the common today, and converted them into black and white, they really contrast well with the lyrics as the character Joffy reflects on his happiness with Sarah.
Log Book 3rd December
I began on the front cover of the digi pack by converting all of the members of the band with a really cool effect that made them look posterised and with an art-deco feel. I joined all of these images of them together to create the front cover where all the band members stand next to each other to look equal and not unfairly positioned. I then added on the chosen font for the band above it but we are all unsure of whether it goes with the graphic type images of the band members below it.
Tom made sure all of the footage was well synced and started to spread out the band shots so the video was equally balanced.
Sarah came up with a really good idea of producing merchandise for our band, featuring the bands logo of a skull that orginiated from one of the band member's t-shirts. She has already created a hoodie for The Fallen, which she will distribute throughout facebook and our website to show to fans.
Merchandise is a really imaginative way of promoting our new band into the world of music.
Log Book 11th December
Merchandise is now completed which is awesome! We have womens tops, a unisex hoodies and male tops, all featuring our new skull design as we found the orginial became too pixelated when we enlarged it.
The shots within the video are all perfectly merging together to create a story. We filmed a little extra at Joffy's house of him rejecting sarah and now all we need is the last piece of the story in which the main character recites 'I'm not your friend, I'm just a man who knows how to feel, I'm not your friend, I'm not your lover, I'm not your family'
This will signify the end of their rocky relationship due to Joffy's alcoholic addiction.
Log Book 13th December
We had a quick few goes at shooting Joffy reciting the last lines today, the last shot came out so much better then the last 3. It is clear throughout the process that Joffy has dramatically improved his lip syncing as it goes really well at the end of our video!
Log Book 16th December
We are all breaking up for christmas, over christmas we decided to complete all of our websites, so Tom finished our Myspace, Sarah finished the website and Facebook, and I finished Twitter.
Over the holidays I also managed to do the inside cover of the band with an image of them posing with a catching attitude to the viewer's eye which I edited to black and white to gain a flow within the Digi Pack.
After consulting Tom and Sarah , we have all agreed it would be the perfect inside image.

November
Log Book 1st November
Today we filmed a lot of shots at Joffy's house which is in stonden massey, we filmed the alcohol induced shots and took up at least 7 minutes of footage which was really good. We could only use half ot it however due the fact the lighting became dark quickly and reduced the quality of the shots.

Log Book 2nd November
We took turns in editing the band shots into our project, giving analysis on how we thought the shots moulded into the music. We also edited our Myspace and updated upcoming gig events as well as accepting friends/fans.
Log book 4th November Today we made a twitter account while Tom edited the shots, adding a black and white effect to the memories of the main character to establish the difference between the present and the past
Log Book 5th November
Today we planned to film shots at the next fishing trip at Brentwood lake with friends, throughout this we are able to film Joffy his natural enviroment enabling us to get natural shots.
We used it for a flashback in our music video, it would link with the 'losing all my friends, losing them to drinking and to driving, losing all my friends, but I've got them back'.
We continued to edit and we planned shots we could gain from fishing.
Log Book 10th November
Today we captured some successful shots at fishing but not a lot as Joffy's were distracted by the fishing itself. However, as a group we have captured some great shots that will be extremely beneficial for our video, and have transformed them into black and white to represent flashbacks which we will feature at the start.
Log Book 12th November
We uploaded the fishing shots and transformed all into black and white to represent memories of Joffy to contrast them with his life failing in the present. We made sure they went perfectly with the music also.
We updated our twitter acount and started on making a website on webs.com to add an extra emphasis on our promotion of The Fallen.
Log Book 16th November
Me and Sarah edited and updated all of our web pages today, starting with MySpace, and then twitter, followed by our website. We also got our page out onto facebook so fans could join and check out the current happenings of the band.
Tom continued to edit, and also helped with the websites so we all took turns in different jobs.
Log Book 18th November
With our video up to date , but still empty spaces present, we decided on preparing for our next shoot which was of sarah and joffy hanging about in the Brentwood common.
From this we decided clothing needed, safety equipment such as the trusty first aid kit, as well as other bits and bobs to keep us warm in the cold weather.
We also updated all of our blogs with pictures and such
Log Book 24th November
Today we started on ideas of the digi pack, so we made some VERY rought sketches on paint for our album cover ideas, Sarah created really good ideas for the song names, and Tom edited more of the scenes making sure we made use of most of our footage
Log Book 26th November
Sarah started on creating a questionnaire to send out for when our music video was finished to gain good constructive feedback aswell as uploading more pictures from behind the scenes of some of our shoots and Tom also helped to do this. I began on the digi packs by getting images we gained from the gig that we took just outside infront of a brick wall, I mixed and matched effects and played around with fireworks a little to gain the best ideas for our Digi Pack.
Log Book 29th November
Today we filmed! Taking on board another risk assessment and made sure we were equipped safely and with positive attitudes.
We filmed various scenes by the common in which sarah and joffy hold hands and act like a loving couple. The shots we took today will go perfectly in sync with the video

October's Log Book
October Logbooks
Log Book 14: 1St October
We made our main character, Joffy learn the words to our chosen song today so he could do the lip syncing task. We then had to wait for groups to finish using the hall where we were going to film. We also then chose the section of the lyrics we wanted to have lip synced.
Log Book 5th October (Double Lesson)
In these lessons we edited the lip syncing video and took photos of our main character Joffy to create a mini portfolio which would reflect his image. Then edited the photos.
Log Book 11th October
Emily and Sarah created the MySpace account and set up a lot of the profile, writing who the influences were and naming the band members for fans to look at. Tom captured some of the filming we had done and starting to sort out what shots we would use and what ones we could discard of.
Log Book 19th October
Tom and Sarah went to Brentwood High Street to film the scene of the main character and his girlfriend sitting together in one of the flashbacks, this shot is only 7 seconds long and we are going to speed up the people that walk past so it looks like a lot of time has passed and they are a very happy couple, this will also add a look of professionalism to our video; we filmed for about 5minutes so we had enough footage and so that there was enough people to speed up as it wasn’t very busy at the time we went.. Emily continued to edit our MySpace page to make more use of our time as a group.
Log Book 20th October
Tom continued to edit the music video with mine and Emily’s input to make sure it was looking good for now; this takes a long time to get it perfect so this took up the whole hour of our lesson. So while Tom was busy doing that Sarah and Emily made up some events to go on the MySpace page and also edited the page so it looks more like a bands page.
Log Book 21st October
We all met at the local gig venue to film our band playing, we were able to get a variety of shots with lighting that enabled clear footage. As we knew the lighting director we had a chance to experiment with lights to get the best effects. Sarah who filmed most of the footage had a near death experiment from nearly being dragged into the mosh pit of angry teenagers. However the footage was well worth taking as it demonstrated a variety of performance based shots.
Log Book 26th October
We all got together within the half term and held a group meeting. Analysing the remaining shots that needed to be taken bearing in mind the weather conditions worsening as the months go on. This could affect our shots in a major way by it being too dark to film.

September Log Books
Log Book 1- Tuesday 7th September
We made ourselves into a group consisting of three members, Tom Sarah and Emily. We all decided on the genre of the track which we wanted to have for our music video, we decided alternative rock. We needed a track that combined a slow rhythm as well as a fast to convey our ability to shoot at different paces with various shots. We all spilt up and tried to find a suitable song.
Log Book 2- Wednesday 8th September
We brought our song choices together and expressed our views on each. Making sure we all had an equal opinion. We got it down to three tracks which were Brand New’ Sowing Season’ Bombay Bicycle Club’ Always like this’ and Drake ‘Find Your love’. We decided to use Brand New so we could convey more emotion and it was the most suitable to our chosen genre
Log Book 3- Friday 10th September
We started to plan ideas for our video, listening to the track over and over we started to picture a scenario that could go with the music, We decided to combine narrative and performance based video to make it more interesting and this also parallels to the conventions of alternative rock videos.
Log Book 4- Monday 13th September
We gathered ourselves together to have a group meeting and started to decide how many characters we would like in our video. We decided on one main young boy and also checked with the suitable actor that they would be involved in our video. The story we wanted to portray was an alcohol addiction as it would relate to the lyrics. Lyrics such as ‘Was losing all my friends, was losing them to drinking and driving’ and other emotional based lyrics. We also printed off the lyrics and wrote the seconds each lyric started and stopped.
Log Book 5- Tuesday 14th September
We produced a letter to send to Brand New (The band) to ask for permission to use their track. As well as this we began on our storyboards, we got up to shot 15. We realised the storyboard would take a while to create as we had only reached 37 seconds.
Log Book 6- Wednesday 15th September
Due to the storyboard taking longer than we expected on our first sit down as a group, we decided to agree on the shots and split it up equally so the process of making them wasn’t as long. Making our group hold time efficiency and good group work, as we checked each other’s shots before making them official.
Log Book 7 Thursday 16th September
We carried on with storyboards; we managed to get up to shot 50 even with Sarah’s absence. However she managed to do two shots despite being ill, pure dedication.
Log Book 8 : Friday 17th September
Emily made the mistake of taking home all the shots (and Sarah’s illness) so with Sarah and Emily gone; Tom had to go it alone. He managed to get up to shot 80 which was 3 minutes and 8 seconds.
Log Book 9: Tuesday 21st September
We completed our storyboard it was a great relief as the storyboard is extremely time consuming. However, all worth the effort as we have a completed music video on paper!
Log Book 10: Thursday 23rd September
We began to film our storyboard. Which took longer than we first expected as we realised we needed a steady hand. We then captured our footage which took 10 minutes, we then realised we didn’t properly capture it, so another 10 minutes was taken to capture it again.
Log Book 11: Friday 24th September
Tom began editing the storyboard and getting familiar with the tools such as cut and stretch, making sure it was in time with our storyboard. Emily and Sarah worked on their blogs making sure the group’s work was up to date.
Log Book 12: 28 September 28th
Tom edited the storyboard up to 1.30 while Sarah and Emily planned the shooting schedule and researched gigs that were on up in London in which we could film gig shots and some of the street shots. We found a band named Young Rebel set who could provide us with a perfect gig atmosphere for our Music Video
Log Book 13: 30th September
Editing was completed of storyboard and we gathered as a group to watch it back, making sure it was on time and if any mistakes were made that needed to be rectified. There seemed to be only minor adjustments
