Making The Britney Video

1)    What do you think you learnt from the Britney planning and filming experience? It could be specific things about making music video OR general things about the production process.

One of the main things I learnt from doing the re enactment of the Britney Spears video ‘Hit me baby one more time’ was how much planning was needed to produce a successful production. I realised that a lot of the things that may seem trivial in fact are very important when making a video like location, timings and weather people are available. We also encountered a few problems when people don’t turn up to film for various reasons, so I learnt from this that it is wise to have other people on standby in case this happens when I produce my own music video.

Filming was a lot more work than I thought it would be and although I did enjoy it a lot it was quite frustrating. I found that people are fine rehearsing but when it comes to performing in front of the camera a lot of them get shy which hinders the overall production and takes up valuable time of which we don’t have much. I think that when recording a video we have chosen to do and able to use our own ideas the shyness will be less of an issue so the performance will look more confident.

2)    For you, what was the best bit?

I liked choreographing part of making the video and enjoyed some of the filming. Getting everyone together to make the video and eventually putting it all together and seeing the final product was a good achievement for our first go so I found that enjoyable. Also being able to experiment with the camera and get used to using lots of different shots has given me a bit more confidence to add more varied shots to my own music video when it comes to making it.

3)    How do you think the work we have done will impact on your group project?

I liked working as a group to do this project as it allowed me to work with people I wouldn’t normally and see their strengths and also notice my own strengths when coming to the filming and production of the task. I think this will help our own music video a great deal as we will be able to eliminate little mistakes that happened in this preliminary task such as timings and some faults in the editing.
